Wired DNC Conceptual Layout
• Computer running DNC Software is attached to the existing
network server that contains the NC Programs
• Device Drivers on DNC Host PC enable multiple
Serial (RS232) Ports
• DNC Software is configured to standard serial ports
• A separate Ethernet connection runs from the DNC computer
to one or more Ethernet to Serial Conversion Units
Wireless DNC Conceptual Layout (Standard)
• Computer running DNC Software is attached to the existing network server that contains the NC Programs
• MOXA drivers are installed on the DNC computer creating
virtual serial (RS232) ports
• The DNC Software is configured to use standard serial ports as with a conventional wired system
• A separate Ethernet connection runs from the DNC computer to an industrial grade access point on the shop floor
• MOXA Wireless Ethernet to Serial devices convert wireless
signal to serial signal
• CNC Machines use their standard serial communications ports
Wireless DNC Conceptual Layout (ORiON™)
• Computer running DNC Software is attached to the existing
network server that contains the NC Programs
• No serial drivers needed. Communications to ORiON is via
standard wireless (or wired) TCP/IP sockets
• DNC Software is configured to use TCP/IP sockets and functions identically to serial configuration
• ORiON sends and receives standard TCP/IP sockets, no serial
conversion latency.
• A separate Ethernet connection runs from the DNC computer
to an industrial grade access point on the shop floor
